"Beneath the Sky of an Angry God is the first book I have seen that includes religion in a children's historical fiction. It is so unique. We have enjoyed it, and as a parent and teacher, appreciate the flow and how the now young man has come into his own within himself and with his feelings toward God."

    Judy Willis, Secretary
    Longhorn Valley Homeschool
    Burnet, Texas

"Reading Bloodlines was like dining on a thick piece of steak. So many Christian novels today are little more than a slice of baloney."

    Louisa Murray
    Haymarket, Virginia
"I read City of Lies and it was an excellent book. I really enjoyed it. It's hard to please me because I am a serious book reader. Though the length of the book was somewhat short, it had plenty of suspense and showed that not all was as it seemed in 1876 Chicago. I only wish that I could have enjoyed it for longer. Please come out with longer books, and keep the Christian stand. I would reccomend it to any age or type of person. God bless!"
    Jeanie Ingram
"I loved the book Beneath the Sky of an Angry God. The book was easy to read and my 9-year-old son will be reading it as part of his curriculum. Because I am from Oklahoma, this book was especially interesting to me. I'm glad you included the map which outlined the Trail of Tears. Please let me know when the next book will be available."
DeAnn Utley, Second Baptist Homeschool Organization
"My son is enjoying Beneath the Sky of Angry God. He is one who gets bored easily and I've noticed he hasn't been able to put it down. In fact, he is reading more than the assigned pages per day which is a miracle in itself. I'm always impressed with books that show faith in God as a positive thing, and I don't have to worry that there might be something inappropriate for my children to read."
    Lisa Short, homeschool mom
"The Invisible Empire gives its young readers the opportunity to ponder basic values, the inevitable consequences of their actions, and the ultimate triumph of conscience. These powerful issues are portrayed not only in the context of the human growth and development of the characters, but in the historical growth and development of our nation. John Jenkins and Mark Weaver have given us another masterfully woven tale."
Joyce Sigmundsson, Principal River Oaks Elementary School, Dumfries, VA
"My name is Ben Keppel and I'm 11 years old. I met you at the HEA Convention and at the Fairfax Covenant Church Curriculm Sale this past summer. I just finished reading Bloodlines. It was a terrific novel that everyone should read. The story is so gripping! It's become my favorite book. I also like how the characters intertwine with The Invisible Empire and Beneath the Sky of an Angry God. I can't wait until you write the next book!"
    Ben Keppel
"I really liked City of Lies. It had a good plot, and an easy to follow story line. I also liked the fact that good attention was paid to details and to the characters. It was a very good read."
    Joshua Haenlein
"I picked up Bloodlines after reading a mystery novel by a popular writer. I found Bloodlines to be just as thrilling and in many ways more exciting. This story involved three mysteries: one set in the past, one set in the contemporary, and one set in the eternal. These mysteries were woven masterfully together and were tied together by the common theme of God's provision for His chosen people. What could be more exciting than this?"
    Robert D. Feeney, father
"Hey, this is Jordan from HEAV. On a scale of 1 to 10 I think that I would give Beneath the Sky of an Angry God a 9 or 10. My sister read it to and she thinks that it is really good (she is fourteen) for people my age. See ya later.
    Jordan
"Since I do a lot of critical reading, I am not easy to impress, but your writing is refreshing for three reasons. First, it is clearly and unashamedly Christian in content. Second, your writing is both historically acurrate and contemporarily relevant. Third, I find a unique blend of insightful opinion, life-like characters, and realistic situations that compel me to turn the page. I can, without reservations, recommend your books to my friends."
    Eve Barner, homeschooled twelfth-grader
    Purcellville, VA

"Do you sometimes feel that the history you are teaching your children is dry? Don't you wish that you could teach more than just facts and figures? How about the feel of the time period? How about life lessons from history? The answer to all of these questions is The Century War Chronicles."

    Dan Hammes, Homeschool Central

"So many of the history texts traditionally used in schools have failed to paint an accurate picture of how exciting the past was and how important it is to us today. And, of course, many times they gloss over or simply leave out details of how people's relationships to God have shaped history. Reconciliation Press is providing a welcome breath of fresh air!"

Whitney Von Lake Hopler, Christian Writer and Editor
"Just finished reading Beneath the Sky of Angry God with my 'almost' 9 and 11 year olds. The children said it was so wonderful that they wanted us to finish it in a few sittings. Although we didn't, they kept saying, "Keep reading Mom." Quite honestly, since we are Canadian, we don't know that much about US history, except what our US curriculum teaches us. This book gave of a very good view of what it was like. I had trouble reading some parts, for the fact I was 'choking up' but in a positive way. We were all moved by this great, sometimes very sad story. It gave us a chance to discuss some of the key happenings in history but that apply to here and now. The lesson about being angry was extremely well done and portrayed. It taught what true faith is.
Shelia Paul, Cowichan Valley Christian Homeschool Support Group
    Cobble Hill, B.C. Canada
"Beneath the Sky of an Angry God--what a story! We loved this book and its quality. We love to study about Native Americans and this is a great addition to any library. It not only teaches history, but wonderful lessons of values. We would recommend this book highly. We look forward to purchasing more books in the series."
The Dodsons, homeschooling family in Texas
"City of Lies was a delightful surprise. Many of the historical fiction books written for young teens are either dry or chocked with unbelievable characters or situations. City of Lies has neither extreme. Set in Chicago of the post-Great Fire era, an accurate and colorful picture is drawn of the customs, transportation systems, city conditions and even the religious quirks of that time in history. In a day in which teens are exposed to some pretty sophisticated storylines, the action in City of Lies is enough to keep the attention of young men and women. The conflict between good and evil, the agony of a wounded conscience, and the wretchedness of choosing evil and self-serving interests consistently over righteousness are depicted in the lives of the many characters. When confronted with truth, what we choose to do can, many times, be an agonizing process, not something that is pat and tied up in neat boxes all in a row. Adam and Christine give us a believable picture of the conflict. THIS is the way to teach history! Away with boring history textbooks! What we do with the circumstances that surround our lives will make us or break us. Jenkins and Weaver illustrate that if we remember our past in the light of the Word of God, we will not repeat the same mistakes that others have done. Good job!"
Terry Dodds, writer and editor of "Notes from the Heart"
"Try to image yourself in the years following the Civil War. Despite the emancipation of the slaves, bigotry is still rampant in the United States. Even in the North! The Invisible Empire makes you feel right in the middle of the character's live! I couldn't put the book down! When I did, it was with much reluctance."
    Ryan Sengpiehl, 8th Grader
"The Invisible Empire begins with two boys, Adam Vestry and Josiah Washington, who are at odds with each other. Through their individual circumstances, they are brought face to face at a crossroads--crossroads, where both young and old act with God or against God. In the end, Adam and Josiah make the right choice, but not without suffering the pain and sorrow from wrong choices made by themselves and others. Through their shared experiences, these two boys have become young men with a renewed faith in God; as well as having gained a new understanding of how wrong choices are met by hard consequences. A wonderful book to glean from!"
    Annette Jurczak, Coordinator
    Hudson Area Homeschoolers of Maine
"This book makes history come alive from a perspective children can relate to, and from a perspective you cannot find in school textbooks. Beneath the Sky of an Angry God captured the angry and confused feelings of a child who is being forced to move, and having to leave everything behind - even his mother's and sister's grave. His father teaches him to accept God's will for their family even if circumstances aren't pleasant. Along the way, God uses new friends and loss of his father, to melt his anger and confusion and help him learn to accept God's will for his future. I think these books will capture the attention of children and help to encourage a love of history."
Marie Wattier, Southwest Alabama Home Educators
"My son, Danny, who is 13 read the book (and I did too!). History is his favorite subject. He really enjoyed the book. His initial comments was that this was different because it didn't have a really happy ending. At first he didn't like that, but the more he thought about it the more that made sense to him because it was more like real life.

"As a homeschooling mom, I appreciate that it is more like 'real life'. Our children go through life thinking that life should go a certain way. Soon we are defining 'good' and 'happy' by our definition instead of God's. Our joy is in knowing the Lord and following Him...not in how we would like things to turn out.

"We hope to read all the books in the series. Thanks so much! We will be sharing our experience in our support group newsletter in March."

    Debbie Rossi, L.I.F.E. Support
    Sterling Heights, MI

"I was very pleased with the caliber of Beneath the Sky of an Angry God. I feel that it was very effective in dealing with very real human emotions and will help readers to see that there are alway consequences to every action--whether good or bad. As a home schooling mom, I am always pleased to find literature that teaches. This book teaches not only history, but also moral values. Thank you for this work."

Doris Jordan, Christian Family H.E.A.D., Texas

"Since I'm 13, my mom asked me to review one of their first books. The story focuses on the Trail of Tears, when the Cherokee Indian nation was forced...to move to the Oklahoma territory. As soon as I picked up the book and started reading it, I got caught up in the story, which was full of action, biblical references, and emotions. All in all, it makes for good reading."

B.J. Both, Christ Centered Home Educators

"Historical fiction gives parents the opportunity to introduce a new historical period or subject to children with ease. Beneath the Sky of an Angry God addresses the difficult subject of US aggression and oppression of Native Americans during the 19th Century. Placed during the 1830s, the lively, believable characters tell the tale of Cherokee Relocation from Georgia to Oklahoma. Complete with corrupt officials and hopeless situations, this story confronts the dilemma of good versus evil, revenge versus justice, in thought provoking ways."

    Kathleen O'Mara, Editor, THE CONNECTION
    New Mexico Family Educators (NMFE)

"We have finished Beneath the Sky of an Angry God and it was truly wonderful. We snuggled on the couch and started it last evening and we couldn't put it down until we finished the book. It made history come alive for us. We cried and hurt with Daniel and his people. We talked about how easy it is for some people to judge others because they are different (skin, religion, handicaps, etc.) and how in the scriptures we are taught to love everyone, even our enemy. I will certainly recommend this book to others."

    Sandie Taft, Curriculum Reviewer
    Pine Homeschool Mothers, Pine, AZ

"Your stories are awesome!"

Dana Burkhardt, Home Schooling Mother of Four

"This book is filled with adventure and emotion. The authors are John Jenkins and Mark Weaver. This is a great historical fiction. It is a Christian classic. If you enjoy action and adventure, you'll love, Beneath the Sky of an Angry God."

"We received the copy of Beneath the Sky of an Angry God on Saturday. My 10-year-old daughter checked the P.O. Box. I knew it was the book, so I let her open it as I drove home. That was the last I saw of the book til the next day! She loved it, and so did I (once I pried it from her hands). "

    Carolyn Petroski, Executive Director
Palmetto Homeschool Association, Lancaster, South Carolina

"I enjoyed your book tremendously! I can see its value in the classroom setting for history, literature, and Bible. I know students would enjoy reading it for pleasure also. The spiritual message is strong yet simple enough for young people to grasp; it is also relevant to them!"

    Susan Howard, Librarian
Cedar Grove Christian Academy, Philadelphia, PA

"My son and I read Beneath the Sky of an Angry God during our Thanksgiving break. It was a compelling story. After the first three chapters we were hooked. My son (age 12) said he found Daniel to be a believable character - someone he could relate to."

    Linda Trumbo, Best Picks Curriculum
    Richmond, Virginia

"Beneath The Sky of an Angry God is wonderful! It really sparks your interest to read more about the Trail of Tears and the Cherokee Nation. The moral dilemmas your characters face are very easy to relate to. The spiritual lessons are clear and concise, simple enough for kids to understand, yet allow for a deeper understanding. Thank-you very much for the effort you have put into creating this wonderful book."

    Julie Miller
    HERO of Oklahoma

"This is a fast-paced, engaging story. Readers will get caught up in the action, will identify with the characters in their moral dilemmas, and as a result will absorb the deeper message. I look forward to the other books in the series and hope to see some of these characters again."

    S.T., Virginia librarian

"This book was difficult to put down. The storyline was engaging and educational at the same time. It is an excellent introduction to the historical event of the Cherokee Nation and the Trail of Tears."

    D. McNett, Valyermo, CA

"The human side of Native American history is one people rarely get to see. Hollywood and most literature painted them as the stoic, nature loving savage. In Beneath the Sky of an Angry God you are exposed to the real life internal struggle of a young Native boy forced to reconcile the conflicting brutal arrogance and Christ-like compassion of these 'white people.'

I am grateful for this honest, sensitive, and respectful portrayal of Native people. It serves to help tear down the negative stereotypes of Native people, and reveal that all of us must own all of American history, if true reconciliation is to come to our nation."

    Rev. Richard Leo Twiss
Co-Founder and President of Wiconi International

"Beneath the Sky of an Angry God was an exciting and moving story that meets some real needs in education today. It's a well researched story about a time in American History that we typically know very little about. And it was refreshing to see a historical fiction book writen from a Christian point of view."

    Stephanie Frantz, Literature Teacher
    West-Mont Christian Academy, Pottstown, PA

"I've read Beneath the Sky of an Angry God and it's great! I really like the way that you based it on a true story. I would highly recommend it to others, and have forwarded information to our Ohio e-mail list. Please let me know about future books. Thanks so much!"

Donna Pate, Ross County Christian Homeschool Group
    Chillocothe, OH

"Beneath the Sky of an Angry God--what a story! We loved this book and its quality. We love to study about Indians and this is a great addition to any library. It not only teaches history, but wonderful lessons of values. We would recommend this book highly. We look forward to purchasing more books in the series."

The Dodsons, a homeschooling family in Texas

"My children and I thoroughly enjoyed reading Beneath The Sky Of An Angry God. We read it aloud together. Excellent! Our family enjoys Native American history. Can't wait to read the rest of the series."

Teri Velardi, Pony X Press Publishing

"Wow, what a gripping book! I stayed up late to finish it then was sorry when I was done! I want my sons and daughter to read and be affected by this story. I really like the fact that it was realistic and redemptive. You guys did a great job. I can't wait for the next one!"

    Karen J. Adams, President
Families in Support of Home Education

"The Invisible Empire is an exciting and compelling story that gives both youth and adults fresh insight into the challenges and dangers faced by young people in mid-19th century America as they sought to experience that most crucial ideal called freedom.

"I hope the next time you find yourself talking to someone about freedom, you'll think about this book and the important reminders it offers readers of every generation."

    Dr. Chalmers Archer, Jr.
Author of Growing Up Black in Rural Mississippi

"The authors of The Invisible Empire have written an excellent story. As an African American woman raised by white foster parents, I particularly identified with Josiah’s struggle to find his place in the world."

    Sultana Jones, Artist
    Fairfax, VA

"Bloodlines. Wow! What an amazing book! It has everything: history, mystery, suspense, romance. I really enjoyed it!"

Laura Davis, Schools In, London, Ontario

"I just finished Bloodlines a few days ago. I stood amazed that you linked abortion and slavery because our pastor had given us a chart doing the same thing recently. I really appreciate the way your book has encouraged me to look at history. I'm looking forward to relearning history as crucial and inextricably linked to the present as I teach my children."

    Karen Adams, President
Families in Support of Home Education
    Fairfax VA.

"What a book! If you like to read about history, suspense or current events, you'll love it! If you appreciate good writing, are a Christian and want to be inspired, you'll love it! Frank Perretti has nothing on these authors. I am recommending it to the United Homeschoolers of Virginia throughout Madison, Culpeper, Orange, and Rappahanock, Virginia."

    Sheree' Kilpatrick

"Bloodlines was the best book I have ever read! I'm a lawyer and an avid reader. I just bought four more copies of your book to send to friends and relatives! Please write another--how about a series with the same characters?"
