Meet the Century War Chronicles Characters
Sam MacDonald (1820-1900) answered yes to God's call when he embraced a prophecy that identified him as one of two men from a family bloodline chosen to raise God's standard in the midst of an evil generation. His many writings, books and publications, as well as his one-on-one relationships, revealed a special wisdom and insight that turned many hearts toward God. Sam's journals and his Cry of the Blood memoirs are now appearing online as a online monthly serial. His journals are excerpted from RP's historical and spiritual thriller Bloodlines.
Daniel Sweetwater. (1823- 1902) Daniel finds it difficult to trust God after his people suffer under cruel oppressors who take their homes and get away with murder. Justice seems to elude Daniel until he comes face to face with the darkness in his own soul. Daniel's stories span many years. First as a young man in 1839 (Beneath the Sky of an Angry God), then as a wise adult in 1872 (The Invisible Empire). Also, Daniel's further adventures in 1841 are described in RP's upcoming story Cry of the Blood.
Mary Muhlenberg. (1833-1889) Mary, a six year old in Beneath the Sky of an Angry God, grows into a stubborn young woman (Above the Midas Touch) who rejects her father's counsel and leaves her family to seek her fortune in the gold rush. As Mary discovers the deceptive power of gold and materialism, she must learn to submit her strong will to God. In RP's upcoming story, Fool's Gold, Mary's adventures continue in gold-rush era San Francisco. You can learn also how Mary's problem with a strong will developed prior to her journey on the Cherokee Trail of Tears in our beautifully illustrated Kids' Club story, The Gift.
Josiah Washington. (1856-1925) Josiah is a former slave who yearns to experience true freedom. After a harrowing experience with the KKK, Josiah realizes that integrity and true friendship are as important as liberty.
Adam Vestry. (1855-1941) Adam must grow from a boy into a man as he learns to overcome in the shadows of an evil father amid great racial prejudice and strife. Though at first disillusioned, Adam becomes a discerning man of God who helps others who struggle with their faith and with the truth.
Christine Thompson. (1856-1918) In the Freedom Series, we watch Christine grow from a young girl into a young woman. She not only witnesses the dangers of racial prejudice in 1872 Philadelphia, but four years later, the power of deception. She painfully learns just how thoroughly ideas hold power over her life and her dreams. Aided by her friend Adam Vestry, she learns to confront the lies and accept the truth.
